This notice explains what personal data Go Get Tickets handles, why, and your rights.
Who we are
When you book tickets, the organisation running the event decides how your booking details are used for that event, and we process them for them. We’re responsible for the data we use to run the platform itself: organiser accounts, payments, preventing fraud and keeping accounts.
What we collect
- When you book: your name and email address, a phone number if you give one, answers to any questions the organiser asks, what you booked and when, and whether your ticket has been scanned. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.
- Organisers and their teams: your name, email, sign-in details and what you do in your organisation’s account, and your organisation’s details, including bank and identity checks, which Stripe carries out.
- Everyone: technical information such as your IP address and browser, used to keep the site secure.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To take your booking, issue and check your tickets, and handle refunds: this is needed for the contract you’ve entered into.
- To contact you about your booking, for example if a performance is cancelled: also needed for the contract.
- To keep financial records, as the law requires.
- To prevent fraud and keep the platform secure: our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
- To send you news about an organiser’s future events, only if you ticked the box: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by telling the organiser or us.
We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- The organiser of the event you booked, so they can run the event and contact you about it.
- Stripe, which processes payments and checks organisers’ identities. Stripe is based in the US and Ireland; transfers outside the UK are covered by the UK’s data adequacy rules and Stripe’s approved data transfer agreements.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database.
- Our email provider, which delivers booking emails.
We may also share information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Answers to organisers’ questions and phone numbers are deleted 12 months after the event.
- Booking and payment records are kept for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
- Organiser accounts are kept while they’re in use, and closed accounts are deleted after 6 years, apart from financial records.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it, or restrict how it’s used, and object to how we use it. Email hello@example.com; we’ll reply within one month. If we need to keep some records by law, such as payment records, we’ll remove your name and contact details from them instead of deleting them.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work: to remember your tickets while you book, keep organisers signed in and protect forms from misuse. Stripe sets its own cookies on the payment page to prevent fraud. We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies, so we don’t ask for cookie consent.
